‘In Glasgow’ draws its inspiration from Glasgow and Scotland, portraying the impression this city made on the composer whilst studying his first year of composition at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland in 2006.
It was a time of great artistic inspiration due to his interest in Celtic music and culture. The piece is reminiscent of bagpipe technique and Celtic sonorities applied to the clarinet, a concept he studied further during his studies.
It was written and dedicated to the first members of the ‘Acentejo Clarinet Quartet’, who were studying at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland.
